My big fat GREEK DINNER!

When I first came over the Chennai a couple of years ago, I hosted my cousin for her birthday, and she insisted we go to Kryptos for lunch... Since that day, I have been a regular feature at "the Greek place" (as all my friends and family know it) - I've dragged each and every one of them to this restaurant and they've all LOVED it! - and why not? The food served has always been PERFECTLY YUMMERS!

So of course when Chennai Food Guide invited me for a Kryptos Showcase, I lent my royal presence to the occasion with great pleasure!

As Julie Andrews tells us, let's start at the very beginning - with asparagus soup. Perfect that was! This was accompanied by salads from their BRILLIANT salad buffet.

Now I want to dwell on this buffet for a bit - it comes complimentary with any main course, but can be had as a meal on its own. It's completely vegetarian and extremely delish! The variety is awesome - at least 10 to 12 different salads that are fresh and yummy! These are accompanied by cheese, olives, breads, oils and dressing. I particularly recommend their roast veggies - they're the best!

Now to move on - to the Mezze platter - which was chock full of my favourites - Kremidopita (tomato tartlets), Falafel (chickpea fritters), Kalitsounia (baked pumpkin pastries), and Bourekia (phyllo parcels filled with mushrooms). All nice and perfectly cooked. I particularly liked the pumpkin pastries - droooool!

This was followed by mains - paneer kebabs, bell peppers stuffed with rice, and spinach and feta pie. Had I died and gone to Heaven????? The spinach and feta pie was particularly droooolicious! We gave it our royal approval!

For dessert we had Baklava and Pannacotta - both of which were nice enough, but the EXCELLENT Cappuccino they served to round off the meal was truly exceptional! I remember being most disappointed the first time I'd come here to hear that they didn't serve turkish coffee - but I must say the cappuccino makes up for this omission!

VFM: For perfect food? YES! Kryptos is totally worth it! While the showcase was free, I'd say it costs about 800-1000 per head to dine here. Or you can try their weekday lunch buffet which is really VFM. And they do give a discount for people with citibank cards.
